Bedgear Holiday Product Shoot | Last minute teamwork miracle

Updated: Apr 30, 2023

Behind the Scenes: Shooting Bedgear's Holiday Catalogue in a Last Minute Rush

Bedgear is a leading bedding company that provides products and services that help individuals achieve optimal sleep.

They have a unique approach to sleep optimization, which involves matching individuals with the right bedding products based on their sleep position, body type, and temperature preferences.

As a company that prioritizes quality and innovation, Bedgear is always looking for ways to improve its products and provide better experiences for its customers. That's where our team at Blacksail Productions comes in. We were fortunate enough to work with Bedgear on a big video product shoot, which eventually led to a last-minute shoot for a holiday catalogue.

Challenges & Solutions

Another challenge we faced was how to achieve the dark green color scheme that was required for the shoot. Painting the entire studio would have been costly and time-consuming. Instead, we used color correction techniques to create the desired effect.

"This shoot was great because it allowed us to get extremely creative. From picking the background color, to the prop and lighting setup, and how we had to frame everything perfectly to be able to stitch the photos together was really amazing." - Sam S.

Working with the young kid and the dog was surprisingly easy. The shoot turned out to be a lot of fun, and we were thrilled to collaborate with Bedgear's creative team to bring their concept to life. The final product photos and catalogue images were a hit on social media and Bedgear's website, contributing to the company's continued success.

Working on a video production set can be an exhilarating experience, filled with unique challenges and unexpected adventures. From tight spaces to rigging props, each project presents its own set of obstacles to overcome. In this blog, we'll delve into some of the interesting experiences we had while working on a recent shoot, where we encountered challenges such as limited space, rigging a Christmas tree, and incorporating a dog into the production.

Working in tight spaces can be both exciting and challenging. On this particular shoot, we found ourselves in a small room that required careful maneuvering to set up our equipment and get the perfect shots. Rigging up a Christmas tree to hang in a suspended "falling" state was a creative concept, but it also posed safety concerns. We had to carefully plan and execute the rigging to ensure that the tree was secure and safe for the actors and crew to work around. It was a fun and challenging task that required teamwork, creativity, and attention to detail.

Filming with animals can also bring unexpected joys and challenges. During this shoot, we had a dog on set that was a key part of the storyline. Working with animals requires patience, flexibility, and good communication with the animal handler to ensure the safety and comfort of the animal while capturing the desired shots. It was a fun and memorable experience to have a furry friend on set, and it added an element of spontaneity and unpredictability to the production process.

In addition to working in tight spaces and filming with animals, we also encountered the challenge of laying weirdly shaped or awkward-sized products for the camera. This required careful positioning, creative problem-solving, and attention to detail to ensure that the products were captured in the most visually appealing way possible. It was time-consuming and required meticulous planning, but it was a rewarding experience to see the final shots come together.
